Vorentoe Primary School in Great Brak River is a small intimate school where every child is welcomed and recognised as a unique person. This is a school where we understand what being a child means.
Our children can still come to school barefoot if they prefer and they get to experience nature in our beautiful playgrounds. Our children are encouraged to take part in all activities that a leading school like Vorentoe Primary School has to offer. Vorentoe Primary is a dual medium school where our learners excel not only academically, but achieve excellence on the sports field, as well as in the cultural arena.

These words from our school song sum up what Vorentoe Primary School stands for. It is a school where children can still be children, learn, play and perform in a safe and secure environment. A small school where every pupil is part of a family. We place a strong emphasis on values and good character traits. There is a good balance between academics, sport, and culture and Vorentoe does not stand back for any school. We have competent and motivated teachers. At Vorentoe Primary School, parents can accept with great confidence that their children will be exposed to quality education. We are currently among the top 3 schools out of 24 schools in our circle.

Over the years, Vorentoe Primary School has contributed by preparing children for their future, and the large number of alumni who have made their mark in high school serves as proof of this. The school’s prospects are rosy with stable class numbers very good results.

PROUD OF OUR HISTORY

The school originated when C.Searle & Co donated the land for the construction of a new school in 1929. The school was officially opened on 19 February 1930 by Prof MC Botha, the Superintendent of Education. From 1930-1975 it was known as the Great Brak River Secondary School. From 1976-1983 it was known as the Great Brak River Middle School. From 1983 it became a primary school and is known as Vorentoe Primary School still housed in the beautiful building with its gables and panoramic views.

The school’s motto “Onward”has existed since 1939. Until 1976, the school had several principals for short periods. From 1976 to present: Mr TS van Rooyen (1976-1983), Mr LJA Prins (1983-1988), Mr RK Saul (1988- 2012), Mr SW Theron (2012 – current) . The school is dual medium and provides for both English and Afrikaans home language

Pre-Primary is part of Vorentoe Primary. We accommodate learners in their Gr.RR and Gr.R years after which they start their formal school career in Primary School. We offer a safe haven where toddlers can still be a child. We have qualified, passionate staff with a heart for children. Read more
