School Fees

School fees are determined at an annual budget meeting (where parents are present) held according to the terms of Section 38 (2) of the South African Schools Act 84 of 1996. Vorentoe Primary School is a paying school, which means that school fees will be charged on a monthly basis.

The school fees are managed by the Governing Body. The financial statements are audited annually by an auditing firm and reports are submitted to the school board. Reports are also available for the parents should they want to investigate.

Exemption from school fees: Parents who qualify for partial, full or conditional school fee exemption (gr 1-7), as determined by the South African Schools Act 84 of 1996, may request forms from the office, to be completed at the beginning of each school year.

Collecting school fees: According to Section 40 of the South African Schools Act 84 of 1996, both parents are legally obliged to pay school fees. It is therefore a statutory issue and the school may take legal action to collect overdue school fees.

School fees at Pre-primary: The Schools Act is currently only applicable to school-going learners. In other words, school fee exemption for gr. RR and gr. R learners is not possible. Learners whose school fees have not been paid can forfeit their place in the pre-primary class.
